Why people look for a Hetzner alternative

Hetzner is popular for good hardware at a low price. Most people who search for an alternative do not dislike the servers; they hit one of these walls (all from Hetzner's own documentation, checked 2026-10-24):

• Account checks. Hetzner's fraud prevention FAQ says it may ask you to verify your account before processing an order, either with a copy of a government ID or with a prepayment from your own credit card. It also checks the number and price of products in a first order, so an order may not be processed automatically or may be rejected. Hetzner asks not to use VPN services or, if possible, free email addresses during registration.
• No crypto. Hetzner's payment overview states: "We do not accept cryptocurrencies." The accepted methods are cards, SEPA for EUR accounts, bank transfer and PayPal, and not every option is offered in every country.
• No ready Windows. Hetzner Cloud does not support Windows ISOs (Cloud FAQ). On dedicated servers Windows is a paid add-on that you order and finish setting up yourself.
• No operating system on auction servers. Server Auction machines are delivered in the Rescue System, and the installation is yours to do.

Three ways forward

1. Stay with Hetzner directly. If none of the walls above affect you, this is the cheapest option.
2. Keep Hetzner's servers, order through a reseller. Same hardware, data centers and network; we deal with the account, payment and setup. This is what we offer.
3. Move to another provider. Makes sense when you need something Hetzner does not have at all. See below.

Hetzner through a reseller: what changes

A reseller orders servers from Hetzner and rents them to its own customers. Hetzner's terms allow a customer to let third parties use its services, and the customer stays responsible for that use; read our reseller guide for the details.

What stays the same: Hetzner hardware, Hetzner data centers and the Hetzner network.

What changes:

• No Hetzner account for you. The server is ordered in our account, so Hetzner's checks for new accounts do not apply to you.

• The server comes ready. Windows Server 2022 or Linux installed, Remote Desktop set up. On CX plans Linux runs on Hetzner Cloud and Windows runs on our own virtual machines based on Hetzner bare-metal servers. See Windows on Hetzner and auction servers with Windows.
• Help in messengers. Monitoring is included, and you write to us in WhatsApp or Telegram.
• The price is higher. Hetzner's price plus our markup.

Hetzner direct or through us

When another provider is the better choice

We resell Hetzner, so we cannot fix what Hetzner does not offer. Look at other providers if you need:

• a location outside Hetzner's data centers in Germany, Finland, the USA and Singapore;
• dedicated servers outside Germany and Finland;
• hardware that Hetzner does not sell.

When you compare, check the same points that make people leave Hetzner: account verification, payment methods, whether the operating system comes installed, and how you reach support. A low price matters less if you cannot pay or the server arrives empty.

• No refunds. Payments and setup fees are not refundable, and the minimum payment is 1 month.
• Higher price than Hetzner direct. You pay for the setup, payment options and help.
• Hetzner's rules still apply. The servers run on Hetzner, so its acceptable use rules apply to what you run on them.
